What are the Door Entry Systems?

Door entry systems are also referred to as access control systems, specially designed to regulate access to restricted areas within a residential or commercial property. These systems help verify the identity, thus allowing access to authorised persons only and ensuring high security.

A door entry system can be installed in any building, such as apartments for maintaining building security, commercial business premises for tracking employees’ punctuality, attendance, unauthorised breaks, gated communities, industrial warehouses, etc.

Audio Door Entry System

An audio door entry system conducts verification based on the audio for which the person requiring access has to speak to the person at the other end. Such a system is suitable for facilities which do not need high-level security. Its exterior panels can be connected to various handsets.

The person presses the button, which gives an alert at the base station, where a person is usually employed for answering and communicating. After identifying the person, he can access the facility by unlocking the door.

Biometric Door Entry System

In this system, physical and biological characteristics are used for verifying the identity and providing access through fingerprints, handprints, and retinal scans for high security, suitable for use in low-traffic locations. This system is not cheaper but has the disadvantage of accuracy and the possibility of tracking someone’s identity.

Keypad Door Entry System

This system depends on manually entering codes and passwords for verification and access. It is linked with a central access control system which confirms the code or password authenticity. This system is suitable for use in buildings that need 24-hour access control, and someone cannot be constantly present there.

Although this system is safe, it is possible to share codes or passwords with other people; therefore, it can be paired with a biometric system for enhanced security.

Proximity Reader

The proximity reader is mainly used in commercial buildings and is easy to use as a person is only required to swipe a card or wear a sensor-based tag. The card or tag is deactivated when the person can no longer access a particular facility. This system is affordable and offers high security with the option of adding several verification methods, such as a system-readable photo ID.

Video Door Entry System

The video door entry system, a stand-alone intercom system, is called a “video door phone” or “video intercom.” It helps manage calls made by individuals at any residential or commercial facility’s entrance. It verifies the person visually and relies on humans such as a resident or security personnel to identify and approve the access request.

The person at the door presses a button, which gives an alert at the answering station, and the person present at the answering station will respond to that alert by viewing the person from the built-in camera.

Wireless Door Entry System

This wireless system requires minimal wiring and carries out audio and visual verification, for which a person who wants to get access must talk or show his face to the individual on the other end.
